Across Europe, public institutions are increasingly moving away from Big Tech platforms and adopting open-source solutions.

As a result, solutions like OpenCloud, Nextcloud and ownCloud are preferred for their data sovereignty, transparency and flexibility.

As more organizations look for secure, future-ready tools, many are now exploring open-source options for their next steps.

Frequently asked questions about OpenCloud

Where is my data stored with vBoxx OpenCloud hosting?

vBoxx hosts OpenCloud in ISO-certified datacenters in the Netherlands, so your files stay in the EU. vBoxx is ISO 27001 certified, audited by TÜV NORD, and works in line with the GDPR; a data processing agreement (DPA) is available. OpenCloud, Nextcloud or ownCloud: which should I choose?

All three are open-source platforms that vBoxx hosts in the Netherlands. OpenCloud focuses on file management and collaboration, with spaces and integrated office tools. Nextcloud Hub adds email, calendars, contacts and video calls in one platform. ownCloud is a file storage and sharing solution with a large community. The vBoxx experts help you choose the one that fits your team.

Can vBoxx migrate my existing files to OpenCloud?

Yes. vBoxx can plan and lead the migration from your current platform to OpenCloud with minimal disruption, at a time that suits you, such as an evening or a weekend. Your employees are told beforehand what changes and why, and after the move the vBoxx support team answers the questions that come up.
