Frequently asked questions about vBoxx servers

Where are vBoxx servers hosted?

vBoxx hosts its servers in Tier III+ datacenters in the EU: maincubes AMS01 in Schiphol-Rijk, Greenhouse Datacenters in Naaldwijk and maincubes FRA01 in Frankfurt. Cloud VPS, Synology and Mac mini servers run in the Netherlands. The datacenters are EU-owned and EU-operated, and data, metadata, backups and support tooling stay inside the EU.

Should I choose a VPS or a dedicated server?

A vBoxx Cloud VPS gives you dedicated RAM, CPU and disk space on an all-SSD platform at a lower cost, with monthly billing. It suits websites, email servers and databases. A dedicated server is hardware that is yours alone, with Intel Xeon processors, ECC memory, full root access and console access, for workloads that need maximum control or performance.

Can I upgrade my vBoxx server later?

Yes. A vBoxx Cloud VPS is billed per month, so you can ask support to change the configuration whenever you need more resources. Dedicated servers come with fast hardware upgrades, and a dedicated Synology NAS can grow to 32 GB of memory. If a Synology VPS becomes too small, a dedicated Synology gives you more power and storage.

How much does a vBoxx server cost?

It depends on the type of server. A Synology VPS starts at €61.36 per month (or €55.23 per month, billed yearly), and a dedicated Mac mini M6 at €140 per month. You configure a Cloud VPS in the client portal, and dedicated server prices are on their own page. All vBoxx server prices are per month and exclude VAT.
